Mike Harrison
Developer & Co-Founder
Mike came to software development through a winding path. He started out as a musician, spent years teaching music lessons, and eventually found his way into graphic design and branding - the first thing outside of music that genuinely clicked for him. Design led to UI/UX, UI/UX led to front-end code, and in his free time he taught himself to program video games, which brought the whole picture together: visual design, user experience, and programming logic as one thing.
He spent several years at a marketing agency building brand identities and expanding into front-end development, where he was supported in learning to code on the job. The combo design-first thinking + technical ability is what he brings to Blip.
From a technical standpoint, Blip is kind of an embodiment of all of it. Mike designed the brand, built the interface, and develops the platform. But beyond the technical side, he has a genuine soft spot for students and people trying to further their education. Years of teaching gave him that. Hearing firsthand from Dr. Silppa about how stressful and expensive the INBDE process is, especially for international dentists, made him want to build something that's easy to use, intuitive, and maybe even a little fun. Any way he can make that experience easier for students, he will.
